  1. corporations DO want to turn a profit....there are food deserts in poor neighbourhoods because grocery stores make a profit of only 1-2%. When you lose about 5% of your goods to shoplifting (now more, now that ppl are allowed to run large raids with no punishment) PLUS you're the first store looted and burned to the ground when something goes wrong in the neighbourhood, of COURSE large stores don't open there. There are many areas where the big box stores can't get insurance because they likely WILL be burned to the ground...
