  1. you need the electoral college so that farmers and MidWesterners have a say. If there was no electoral college, the country would be run by financiers, politicians from cities, and Hollywood. Then when you run out of water (it's coming!) with city ppl running the country, they would want what's left for their pools and lawns....never mind the farmers who need to grow crops. We saw that in the California drought in '15....some celebs had sparkling green lawns all over their estates, while small Agricultural towns were having their water shut off.
