  1. well, actually it seems at times that Merrick Garland's staff don't keep him in the loop . There have been many questions where Garland said "i didn't know that had happened " after a story had been in the newspapers for 3 days or more. Maybe it's Garland's soft voice, but he comes across as someone who doesn't really have much of a grasp on his staff and the issues, and his underlings do what they want, then tell the boss that they did something different. Mayorkas sounds much the same...he never knows the answer to number questions. (how many migrants etc.) and then the Senator asking the question gives the actual number.
