if anyone who is a lawyer is watching this (may be a bad example but...) OJ Simpson was found criminally not guilty but liable civilly and ordered to pay Fred Goldman #33 million. If somehow after all this time it was irrefutably proven that he did NOT do the murders and that someone else did....does Fred have to give the money back?? Or is it a separate judgement , Fred could keep the money, and OJ would have to sue for it back??
