  2. ​ @DumbledoreMcCracken Imagine how many reputable scientists and engineers did not believe in Maxwell's prediction of electromagnetic waves existence, it was thought of as pure mathematical manipulation with equations, without any practical usage. It took 30 years to prove experimentally electromagnetic waves exist, can be generated and detected. This changed the world.

  3. The same was told about any advanced technology. Atomic bomb was deemed impossible, as Uranium enrichment was thought unfeasible, until the USA and UK did it. The rest is history. Nuclear weapons became a major political and economical factor.
