@hrs2044 Wow! You have swallowed the media narrative hook, line, and sinker! You didn't hear Biden got 4 Pinocchios from the Washington Post for what he said about the Georgia Bill. The early voting in Georgia is 17 days. This is longer than many other states. There is also an option for counties to vote on Sunday if their election officials choose that option. There is NO voter suppression in the Georgia SB202. Go read the Bill it's easy to find on The New York Times website. I can't help you if you won't go read the Bill and research for yourself. Get the truth! You're being played.

Biden's home state of Delaware has less drop boxes per-capita than Georgia. Georgia has no excuse absentee voting, Delaware does not. Biden’s own home state of Delaware bans giving gifts or rewards to voters in presidential primary elections: Whoever…pays, transfers or delivers, or offers…any money, or other valuable thing as a compensation, inducement or reward for the giving or withholding or in any manner influencing the giving or withholding a vote…shall be fined not less than $100 nor more than $5,000 or imprisoned not less than 1 month nor more than 3 years, or both. 15 Del. @hrs2044 So by your logic Georgia voting laws are making it harder to vote, but states with similar existing laws are not an issue. If it's hard to vote in Georgia with those laws wouldn't it be just as hard for people to vote in other states with similar laws? Your reasoning is flawed. In the Georgia Bill they addressed the issue of long lines. The Bill says that poll workers have to monitor lines throughout the day. If voters are waiting in line for more than 1 hour then the poll workers must provide more voting machines or add more voting sites. Exactly how does that make it harder to vote in Georgia. How do any of the laws in SB202 make it harder for a person to vote in Georgia?

@hrs2044 What restrictions to voting are in the law? You saying that other states and their laws are a moot point because they don't affect Georgia. However, we are all people and similar demographics and socioeconomic issues exist in all states, cities, and, towns across America. If the Georgia Bill is restrictive to voters then states with similar restrictions would also be restrictive to their voter's.

Putting forth a national voting law violates states rights and the Constitution. Each state has the right to make laws that the constituents voice their opinions on.

@EastSide-qc5oy The story is all gone over the weekend. NBC national nightly news on Monday made no mention about the shooting on Friday. I expect ABC and CBS were no different, but hey Georgia is still all over the news cycle. Ridiculous!

@hrs2044 I am not afraid of anyone who is legal to vote. You are wrong about having less days to vote. Georgia voters now have 17 days of early voting. You are correct about less days to apply for a absentee ballot. During the pandemic it was 180 days, but seriously this law gives voters 11 weeks. That's more than 2 months. I seriously don't see how that is going to suppress votes or make it harder to vote. This law has mandatory Saturday voting and yes optional Sunday. However, that is controlled by each county election officials. Those counties with minority communities are predominantly controlled by democrats. I would think since they are the one's who are complaining that they would use every available option for their constituents to cast their vote. So in the end all you have for restrictions on voting is the length of time ro request an absentee ballot. In my opinion 11 weeks is hardly a restriction that would suppressing anyone's vote, but we can agree to disagree on that issue.

@hrs2044 The reason for absentee ballots having to be returned 2 weeks before election is because of the volume of absentee ballots returned last year. The election officials democrat and republican complained that it was hard to process the large quantity. Also election officials can now start to process absentee ballots two weeks before election day. I suppose that is the reason for mailing out absentee ballots three weeks later. The runoff elections being shorter is also because of the large amount of absentee ballots and turn around time for military. There is a section on the new absentee ballots that gives a ranked choice voting in the event of a runoff election. I will be honest I don't understand the reason for not using the mobile voting. They purchased them it seems as though they should use them. Maybe other counties complained because all counties didn't have them. I don't remember that being addressed in anything I saw or read.

@hrs2044 I don't think they are actively trying to get less people to vote. After all they can't control the amount of people that will request an absentee ballot. I agree more people should be hired to process the larger volume of absentee ballots, but we're talking about a government run institution. Trying to compare that to a privately owned restaurant is not a good comparison. A restaurant would be receiving more money with increased traffic into their place of business. However, the government isn't going to receive more money for increased volume of absentee ballots. A city, county, state budget is only so big unless you increase taxes or revenue. Therefore, hiring more people sounds good, but is not as easy as it sounds.

@hrs2044 LOL it's more than one day. There is 11 weeks prior to request absentee ballots. Two weeks of early voting. Two weeks before election to process absentee ballots. Then election day. You are trying real hard to make it seem simple and grasping at straws to make your case of that Bill being restrictive to voters. I will agree to disagree with you.

@hrs2044 Like I outlined before it's more than your 1 day or 14 days. I'm not the one who proposed the hiring of more people, you did. I just told you in a very logical way why more people probably won't be hired. That's also why you've not heard anything about hiring more people from any Georgia legislator. I don't think I'm "shilling" for anyone. I've read the text of the law and done a lot of research. I have gave you very detailed logical responses and used facts from the law for my reasoning. In your opinion you still think the law is restrictive even though I have given you explanations using facts. I have also agreed with some of your factual evidence such as the amount of time to request an absentee ballot and the removal of mobile voting. However I still don't see those things as being restrictive or lowering the amount of voters. There is nothing that stops a person from requesting or receiving an absentee ballot or from voting in person either by early voting or on election day. You are not going to convince me and I'm not going to convince you, so I will agree to disagree with you on the subject.

@hrs2044 Once again I did not use lack of funding as an excuse for the voting law. You brought up the issue of why don't they just hire more people. Don't try to put word's in my mouth. I suggest you go back and re-read your comments. I explained the reasons for some of the laws. I am not even a registered republican. So I'm not "shilling" for the republican party or legislature of Georgia. Like I said I have read the Georgia SB202 and I have used those facts to base my comments. Maybe you should go read the actual law instead of listening to the media talking about their opinion of what the law says.

I gave you a logical reason why they probably wouldn't hire more people. Again government institutions don't operate like a private business. I didn't use that as an excuse for the Georgia law. I already gave you reasons for each of the laws you said were restrictions on voting. Only the amount of time to request an absentee ballot and return one has changed. The time to vote has not changed unless you the voter doesn't request your ballot early enough. That's on the voter not on the Georgia legislators or election officials. If 11 weeks is not enough time for you as a voter to make your decisions, then you as a voter have bigger problems than voting.

@hrs2044 They are mailing ballots out later because of increased volume. You obviously haven't done research or read the Bill. Each ballot that is requested has to be printed out with the voters information. That takes time! I already gave you my answer or opinion on the mobile voting busses. I'm not going to repeat myself over and over when you won't take the time to read the Bill and do your own research. I can't help you if you're willfully ignorant about what the law really says.
