Krystal missed a point, businesses don't give food away for valid reasons. 1. Government regulations concerning out of date food. 2. There are a lot of sue happy people. If they eat food and get sick, they sue the store.

@sword7872 Yes, stores can donate food. I used to work for a major chain. We used to donate to the shelters in the area until we got sued. One bad apple ruins the whole batch.
