@skeeter2653 Are there racist people in America, yes of course there are. However America has come a long way from slavery and the racist Jim Crow laws. As for what has transpired over the summer and into this year, some are definitely riots. Our Constitution allows for peaceful protest. However, people do not have the right loot, burn down businesses, or commit other acts of violence in the name of social justice.

@skeeter2653 I don't think he was trying to deny the history or existence of slavery or racism. This speech addressed or was a rebuttal to Biden's speech. It was not a speech on the history of slavery or racism in America. I think he was trying to say that compared to the era of slavery or Jim Crow that present day America is not a racist country. Just my opinion of course.

@skeeter2653 Rebuttal is in the title of this speech. Tim Scott does say "that our healing is not yet done." So he does acknowledge that as a country we have moved forward, but there's still work to do. As for pandering, I would agree with you. However, all politicians pander to their base.
