@nonamewillbegiven6847 I have read plenty of history books. You should take your own advice and research historical voting data. The southern states were democrat controlled through the 90's and even into the 2000's. The state legislature and governorships were democrat controlled.

@nonamewillbegiven6847 LOL Georgia was democrat controlled from 1872-2003. Alabama from 1874-1987. Mississippi from 1882-1992. Louisiana 1887-1980. The Republican Party didn't have a majority in Congress until 1994. Strom Thurmond was the only Democrat to change to the Republican Party. Throughout the 60's, 70's, and 80's some southern states did vote for Republican presidential candidates. However, the those same constituents voted overwhelmingly for the Democrat Party in their state and local elections. Feel free to fact check any of the above information. The "party switch" is a Democrat Party myth!
