This scheme failed because several countries blocked it because they cannot provide for their people without cheap Russian oil . It's naive to believe that Russia didn't prepare for the economic war from the West. In addition, Russia knew NATO was training the Eukrain military for eight years in preparation for a war with Russia. Russia was well prepared for this. They are able to feed their people and have an abundance of wheat to help their friends.

The eastern parts of Eukrain are of ethnic Russians who have been living there for thousands of years before they were separated from the old Soviet union. These people were abused and mistreated by Ukrainian soldiers and Azovs nzis. This is why the Russians are there to liberate them so they can separate from Ukraine.
