The Constitution already has a clear division of powers. It clearly outlines what belongs to provincial govt and what belongs to federal govt. And when provincial laws conflict with federal laws the Constitution clearly states federal law takes precedent and over rides provincial law Funny Alberta wants the feds to follow the Constitution and wants them out of provincial areas but will ignore the parts of the Constitution they don't agree with But fine...if they want that independence and want to make full provincial decisions then immediately cut off the $68 billion a year the feds send them If you want to make your own decisions great...then fund them yourself. Why should the rest of Canada be forced to fund decisions if you won't let them have input on how that money is spent. Can't ask for money or fed input when it is taking money but reject fed input when it involves decision making. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

@jonk5669 AB didn't always contribute to equalization payments and they still receive federal funding. As I stated last year they received $68 billion for the federal govt. The rest of Canada shouldn't have to fund AB if AB wants to make unilaterial decisions on their own. If they want independent decision making then they get independent funding for it.

@amonducius provinces could always act independently. Did you even read the comment you replied too? We have a thing called the Constitution that clearly outlines what the provinces can and cannot do.

@amonducius basically this "law" that Alberta passed just outlines what is already in the Constitution with the parts they don't like removed. A single province cannot unilaterally change the Constitution and the federal govt is given clear jurisdiction over the provinces if the two levels have conflicting laws. You can't pick and choose what parts of the Constitution you want to follow and which ones you want to ignore. And if you do then the rest of Canada shouldn't have to fund that decision. The rest of your comment seemed like delusional babbling. Nobody took away anyone's rights or freedoms.
