Comments by "Pac Man" (@pacman3556) on "Number of Canadians finding it 'very difficult' to pay mortgage has nearly doubled since March" video.
prices are determined by supply and demand. If demand is high enough to put a house that should be worth say $300K listed for say $1M then it suggests there is not enough supply to meet demand. So the problem is supply or availability of houses.

@RWD1225 we have had immigration since the creation of Canada (and before) but we have not had housing crisis like this. Our country was built on immigrants. You or a very close family member is an immigrant. Blaming immigrants not only shows how poorly educated you are or how little you know about basic economics but it also shows what a racist cu$nt you are.

@healthyman5826 1- even rural communities anywhere within a two hour drive of the GTA still have extremely high housing costs. 2- most places are now hybrid not completely work from home. The cost to drive into the city offsets the cost of a slightly lower mortgage. Some of the cost of not going into the city everyday (like pre Covid) is offset by the higher cost of gas, higher cost of car repairs etc. Also there is the "hidden cost" of your time spending an hour or two more commuting every day. 3- not everyone can work from home all the time. There are lots of people that need to go in to work everyday 4- and this final most important point...the supply of housing in rural areas is not growing either. The supply of housing is probably actually growing faster in the GTA then it is in rural towns. If people from the GTA started to mass exit out of the city then it would just put even more pressure on the supply issue in rural areas driving up prices in those areas. Again it is a supply issue. Simple economics.

I don't support the Liberals but housing is provincial and municipal levels of govt. And all provinces and cities have different parties running them with the same out of control pricing.
