  1. David definitely took advantage of a weakness in the security industry. Now before i go into this security is a good investment just understand the quality of the guard is going to depend on his background and how many there. I worked security for 5 years and knew only a handful of guards with police or military backgrounds and almost all of them were retired. With that said, depending on the site you may have only 1 or 5 guards at any given time. Depending on the state they have very limited authority, in some sites none at all they are just there so the site can get a tax write off, so what does that translate as in David's case? Well without a criminal background security really couldn't do much at all. In fact I am willing to bet that David knew their patrol routes and when they did their patrols. I am also willing to bet the mortuary was forbidden for them to patrol. I have worked sites where we had the keys for specific areas but we were never allowed to go in for whatever the reason maybe. Mortuary i can see being one such area just because of what it is. This decision would be from the sites management. Long story short having worked security i can see ways someone like David can take advantage of security gaps especially if security's contract limits their authority. It sucks especially if you are a guard trying to do your job but it sucks even more for the victims.
