  7.  @GIguy  Wow, what a sheet... Anyone who claims paranormal gifts, cannot be taken seriosuly and of course he is no PhD. 1) "any gifted child should still have the freedom to be a child" - what do you mean TO BE A CHILD? are we all to follow your definition and your understanding of the concept TO BE A CHILD? 2) "it is absolutely essential for neurological and psychological development" - what is? going to school for 12 years daily for most of the day is to be a child? What do YOU mean? 3) NO child has freedom to explore the world, kids MUST go to school, where they are surrounded by mildly ret@rded half-a-class of strangers having nothing in common with the culture of the child's family... ??? 4) Have you got your own kids, raised to adulthood? No? Why would I listen to a cook who never switched an oven on, but sat reading cook books? I raised two lovely kids already, they are happy and successful adults, and the third child is a prodigy, shielded from the limelight by us. Who are you to have an opinion, when you don't even know what a childhood is? I spent 22 years teaching talented kids, artists... I know 1000 times more that you do. 5) for thousands of years, kids worked in family trade from age about 7, it is just the last 100 years the concept of "doing nothing and going to prison of school every day, regardless of whether the material taught on the day is already known to the particular pupil" took hold. 6) Every high-achieving musician was a prodigy, Like in sports, to be an olympic champion, you must be proficient by age 10. In medical sciences it is not the case, it is also not the case with artists. But musicians MUST master all the technique by 12, in order to stand a chance of their dream coming true. Who never dreamt , cannot understand. A tortoise does not understand a swan. 7) social outcasts? what a yuck.y wishful thinking! Vengerov is a social outcast? Argerich? Barenboim? Mutter?... Well, someone's lack of knowledge sticks out like a sore. 8) most depressed youths are actually ones who enjoyed responsibility-free childhood then could not cope with reality. 9) your empty self-confidence is laughable. Raise a single kid first, then preach! I am an artist and a very successful mother, my daughter graduated from Oxford university and is a happy barrister, my son designed landrover cars, it is you who should rather ask me for advice, but you dare preach... 10) dON'T PROJECT YOUR PROBLEMS ONTO HAPPIER PEOPLE! Your parents made some mistakes ending up with a proud, unkind, limited kid, I also have IQ of 154, but I was never distressed and had lovely relations with my peers in the art school, my parents did not make me skip anything. And don't compare music, where early start is a must for later success, and PhD (my husband, my mum have PhDs, my son in law, my father in law have PhDs, my father is a professor of Philosophy... so on so forth ... my family have a culture of raising gifted kids without damaging them., nothing like that you enjoyed. ) 11) A bitter, offended f@ ilure attacking more successful, more talented individuals... How do you now they don't have free time? My son just spent the whole day playing football outside with his neighbours, kids of his age. He achieves in 5 minutes of practice what you won;t be able to achieve in 5 years! This is called talent! Don't assume that if you need to sweat for a result, there are no naturally gifted kids who sail to the better result without too much effort! 12) Raise your kid first, and if they will speak to you at all, come back to comment here. so far you don't qualify.
