@ChrisFineganTunes The fact is, parents do dictate their children's lives, whether they realise this or not. They dictate it from the moment the pregnancy starts, what the mother eats, whether the father makes her cry etc. Their decisions dictate the process of gestation and birth, so the child is already born with the baggage of limits set up by the parents. Where they live, where they work, what is their education and their pronciples, all this dictates the child. So, if they decide to let the child choose something, they actually dictate the child to do the choosing, the child has no option to be just given a carefully selected ready made choice.
I already raised three kids, two of them are fully adults, they are brilliant at making decisions and are in position of healthy dominance in their workplaces.
If I gave choices to my kids, I did understand that this was MY DECISION and they were just subjected to it. A child cannot live without adults. The child is dependant and submissive, and so it should. It is the job of the parent not to dictate unreasonable things! It is the responsibility of the parent to be wise with that "dictate" way. my kids had lots of freedom, because I DECIDED SO.
See?

@RunninUpThatHillh 🎁I agree that school is a waste otime, however those tests are NOT real, they are down 6-7 years! If your child at age 8 does not have the reading age of 18, by those tests, things are not good, same with maths. To check the true knowledge , you need to enrol kids to an entrance exam at a popular private school, 11+. If they do 95% and get a scholarship offer, they do well. aotherwise not. If your kids are intelligent, they deserve competitive education for potentially Cambridge, Harward, etc.

@Oicurmtoyoy Wow, kid, I am tired of your silly attempts at reasoning. Go to your teenage friends and speak about your rights with them, you will find support. I am laughing at your teenage logic.
If a child wants to not live in hell, this child should COMPLY, period.
Your logic being destroyed by facts:"
aren't you asking kids to exchange their compliance for everything?"
- no, No parent has to live with their kid, there is a legal right to give the kid away for adoption at any moment. However, a kid does not have any right to change the family.
- "How is that different to a job?" - the job is a contract. Parenting is one human FORMING the young into a human.
" If you ask for anything, then they aren't dependent, by this definition." - adults do not ask, they REQUIRE, as powerholders..
"A child of 5 can walk up a public water fountain and drink from it." - from where? from a non-existent home? Who pay rent?
" hours of unsupervised time" is only available for a child homes and fed by adults.
"And by morality." - the powerholders determine morality. The Bible speaks anbout a moral duty to use the RОD/
"what's your point?" - my point is proven as CHILDREN ARE NOT INDEPENDENT.
" but it is a crime for you not to feed you kids" - nope, kid. If you are left without supper for homework not finished, it is called discipline, not a crime. I advise you to obey your parents or else. Remember, соrporal punishment is LEGAL in the UK.
"child neglect" is defined by adults. Sparing a rоd is considered neglect, remember!
"If you are genuinely unable to take care of your children" my children received excellent care with excellent brightest life outcomes. Well, I with you could have 1/1000000 of the opportunities they have.
Remember: learn before having an opinion! Remember Katherine saying that ! Not everyone is entitled to have an opinion.

@Oicurmtoyoy Ok girl, if you beg so much. Not "close to power" ( what a childish primitive wording, as if things are simple as minecraft). I, for example, was selected for my talent into FREE art school, where I was taught 4 times a week, 6 hours each day, all paid by the state. So for the next 4 years the state paid for my 24h a week special art education. Then another, more advanced FREE art school, all selection by ability.
You see, I am a happy person who does not need to hide behind a badly painted picture.
I forgot to add, the state taight me English for free, so well than now I can educate the lost native speaker lonele nickname covered unhappy stranger girl on youtube.

@Oicurmtoyoy When people add conditions, it is not meaning bluff, they just do not want to share with unpleasant insects the lovely story of their beautiful lives. "i want you to answer the question" is the cocroacher style of communication. If you want a person to open, open to them first.
Well, to make the cocroach faint, I will add that my DH, educated for free by the u s s r state, teacher you native speaker guys in the best British uni, my eldest judges you guys, and my youngest is taught by the professors of music in London who teach you ebglish speaking guys but their native language is... russian, and they were all educated for free by the state, because of their talent only . Well, of course none of those lovely people teach cocroaches, so nothing personal, girl.
The state that provides such outstanding education for free does care about its citizens.
The disrespectful manner of cocroacher' questions makes me thinks it will lose any measuring contest.
Now your tirl girl to tell me about what your state helped you achieve. I bet you cannot even do percentages.

@just.marysew As a mother of two adult children, fully independent and happy, and a nearly teenager, I can say that if a young person has his/her mother as a friend, becoming immersed into own life will feel like a betrayal. My daughter's best friend is her husband, and I gave space. My son's best friends are his adult friends who used to be little boys he was at school with, and his lovely girlfriend. At no point I tried to be his close friend for the very reason that a young person should be free to acquire his beast friends without looking back at disappointing his mum. My son still respects me as his teacher is the way of his profession, which makes me very proud, as he is a very successful designer. My "little one" is going along his own path, and his best friend's place will be taken not by me. I have my own friends. It is a sacrifice by a mother, a conscious act of sacrificing the closeness with he child in order to give space to spread their wings. This is what your mother did, and this is why she is amazing
