True!

We lived for many years in such a layout, in a brick version. Brick buildings are better. I have never seen mold (now have seen it plenty of time in the UK!) and never have seen an open entrance to the roof area.

Thank you for the respectful, neutral video. Lots of what you say is true.

@ronaldmessina4229 Don't worry, the vast majority of Russians who are hardworking live well, pensioners included.

@craigbrowning9448 they are 2.45 m exactly :)

No homeless.

@sunnyspring5105 At birth, each citizen is assigned "place to live registration" and has the right to live there, owned or not. One cannot deregister someone, even is that person is in prison. Also, bear in mind that Russian climate is such that anyone hmeless will be dead after 1 night outside in winter. The laws cater for that .

@sunnyspring5105 Well, I've been living in the UK for many years now, and I must say that UK social protection for poor is extremely generous, even counter-productive. the British homeless are ones who choose to be homeless... in Russia such stunt won't work at -40 C at night :)

Where do you live?

@leah7636 This is so different... I lived in such apartment hald an hour from Winter Palace and Mariinsky theatre... location matters. I would never live in Brisban, even in a mansion... The attractiveness of accomodation depends on location, location and location. IMO.

@leah7636 I understand! It is a nice place! But still where one cpuld live permanrntly depends more on what they do.

there is no such thing as "bedroom", just rooms, any of which can be slept in.

The huge difference is that in Russia such buildings are populated not by who you would expect to live in typical UK council flats, but by mix of people, including doctors, professors, teachers, other professionals. So the stigma is not there. The main problem with UK council flats are not the flats, but the residents. I would NEVER live in a concil flats area in the UK, and I lived happily in St-Petersburg in a similar building to what is shown in this video. My next door neighbour was a respected dentist, my family was of similar standing.

This apartment is VERY average. There loads of nicer ones...
