To buy a Ferrari just to use it to go the local grocery store to buy milk, is quite a way to squander money, when you could save much more money getting the milk in a more clever intelligent way w/o spending a significant amount of money to do so, like buying an affordable car to do the same job. In the same way, it's much more feasible/monetarily wise to get a bunch of undercover soldiers to use synchronised detonation charges or to be synchronised in lighting fires with gasoline etc using military encrypted communications systems to start the fires in a wide spread out way [directed arson]. So DEWs exist yes for ship to drone, ship to boat, ship to ship, ship to plane warfare, but to think that such immense megawatt power required weapons [are used to start fires when synchronised arson undercover IF that is being used, quite more efficient, cheaper, and has quite the plausible deniability - using a sledgehammer to kill an ant is a waste of a use of a sledgehammer] will work on a aircraft [not to mention the serious cooling system that would be needed on an air platform and so many other engineering challenges that reminds seasoned experientially assiduous technically trained Military physicists that we live in reality not science fantasy/fiction] beaming a very powerful laser down to a target on earth or from a satellite on earth w/o the very powerful electromagnetic radiant energy of the laser device causing the onboard very sophisticated avionics electronics of the aircraft to malfunction in some way, shows how successful indeed compartimentalisation is in the Military, the ole mind control of 'on a need to know basis' and of making the enemy believe you are more powerful than you actually are, to strike fear into the hearts and minds of the enemy since that is at least half of the battle if not more, just like how Joe Rogan learned recently US MIL hoaxed the nuclear bomb tests on film to intimidate the Russian govt during the days of the U.S.S.R to think twice about attacking USA etc. So galling sick and tired i am Dunning-Kruger effect conspiracy "researchers" who due to being infected with DKE, they naturally think of such way past Occam's Razor ideas into the realm of Star Wars Death Star science fantasy, or are seeded with such non compos mentis science fantasy/fiction ideas by military psychological operation agents who seek to discredit true conspiracies by getting the uninformed public to conflate such flat earth type bonkers theories with DEWs starting fires, which is overkill for such an alleged aircraft platform, so that way the uninformed public can be manipulated into shunning true conspiracies like twin towers being an inside job and the rational undercover more plausible reasons for the fires IF the fires were started by arson [directly and indirectly by way of being negligent for nefarious reasons or being incompetent] and not electrical poles brought down by dangerous hurricane winds with those electric snapped wires lighting fires and those dangerous winds fuelling the fires etc.

Something you might appreciate @outerlimitz67  : The word “Dinosauria/Dinosaur” was coined in 1841 by Sir Richard Owens [Palaeontologist, biologist, comparative anatomist] and the word is from two Greek words “deinos” "terrible" + “sauros” "lizard". “Great / Terrible Lizard.” If you spend the time to diligently look into [meaning taking much time than doing a twenty second search engine query] what word(s) were used in English literature before the word “Dinosaur” was coined, you will find the most common word was Dragons. I know this to be true for i spent much time investigating historical English literature in relation to these matters and truly before 1841, you always see more than anything this creatures referred to as Dragons.
