The word “Dinosauria/Dinosaur” was coined in 1841 by Sir Richard Owens [Palaeontologist, biologist, comparative anatomist] and the word is from two Greek words “deinos” "terrible" + “sauros” "lizard". “Great / Terrible Lizard.” If you spend the time to diligently look into [meaning taking much time than doing a twenty second search engine query] what word(s) were used in English literature before the word “Dinosaur” was coined, you will find the most common word was Dragons. I know this to be true for i spent much time investigating historical English literature in relation to these matters and truly before 1841, you always see more than anything this creatures referred to as Dragons.
