Given that in the long-term, the market rewards efficiency — it should not be a surprise that the inefficient enterprises go out of business. If capitalism is all about competition and efficiency — then it is just a fact of life that 'mom and pop' businesses aren’t very competitive (on price or cost) against the efficiency of the 'big boys.' The main reason why Amazon can offer a $15 minimum wage, while mom and pop establishments can’t — is because Amazon is a far more efficient business in the first place. 🥇 Amazon is inherently better at capitalism than its smaller competitors. ⚖️ That’s the reality of capitalism. ⚰️ The $15 minimum wage is the proverbial 'nail in coffin' of the inefficient business. $15 minimum wage is merely ending the suffering of inefficient businesses sooner than later. Uncharacteristically, when it comes to Amazon, John Stossel seems to be complaining that the market is working as intended — where the more efficient business is winning.
