This is very similar to how Vietcong and PAVN launched Tet offensive during the vietnam war. small teams of specialised troops would go first , recon , then sabotage and set ambush points which after achieving will be followed by a large number of squads taking turn in pushing forward. to put it simple as an example for a battalion of 800 men to be divided into three companies consisting of 120 men each company (well let the 200 logistics , technical , comms and support role will be taken into consideration ). those 600 into three companies , 120 each company will be divided into 4 groups , each 30 men , these 30 men platoon will be divided into a squad of six with a machine gun , RPG-7 and Dragunov common in each squad while AKs will be the common rifle. and these platoons will take their turn infiltrating en masse with safe distance from each other to avoid massing. My example may be having flaws but i tried my best to explain things. to put it simply , battle of bakhmut is like that battle of saigon during tet offensive, Ukrainians as the US + ARVN army and wagner being the Vietcong and Russians being PAVN, except this battle of "saigon" is fought on a macroscale.

  2.  @zeyadsaeed9580  NVA and Vietcong tactics doesn't always have to be defensive. they also have their own offensives. and yes they have their lessons learnt from the experiences of their previous organisation the Vietminh. Plus if you seethe terrains of Bakhmut , there are several isolated pockets of woods and buildings in and around that can give ideal cover for a small platoon to hide . BUT YES. Technology matters here the most.and the Wagner doesn't lack in the technologies you have mentioned. that's where the support crews of 200 men example comes in. now if you pardon, those battalion of 800 can be expanded to 1000 with a US- Styled selective conscription . these additional 200 can be allocated to mostly support units or even needed, become casualty replacements of the three companies.
