  1.  @megaduck7965  The first Guru Shree Guru Nanak was the foundation of a certain set of teachings based on the religions of the time in 15th century India and various Bhakti Sufi movements . Don't know about his views on Islam but He certainly was impressed with the Sufi way of Life ( True Sufis were often considered heretics by the orthodox and persecuted alike) . also the basis of Sikhism has a lot based from both Hinduism and Buddhism. Sikhs never wanted war. Their main occupation based on the region of Punjab were Agriculture, Trade , banking and building cities and religious places of worship alike. as well as other jobs. It was a haven for those who were considered the downtrodden and helpless in both Hindu and Muslim societies . all were ok ,till Mughal emperor Jahangir sparked the first war of persecution against the Sikhs , when 5th Guru of Sikhs , Guru Arjan dev went to Delhi to appeal to him to stop the conversion of the Golden temple into a Mosque and also to reconsider in taking back the jaziya (Emperor Akbar who was Jahangir's father and liberal among all Mughals, has banned Jaziya) as well as stop violence over non Muslim subjects of the empire. instead he got arrested on the accusations of providing help to various Jat and other rebels in the region and being a heretic. eventually Guru Arjan dev was the first to be persecuted when he refused to convert to Islam on Emperor's order . The second thunder struck on Sikhism when Aurangzeb seized the throne and murdered all his brothers including the much liberal and liked Dara Shikho . He was a complete fanatic and like today's daesh wanted to make another caliphate in 17th century India just like Allauddin Khilji in 14th century India. His atrocities on non muslim subjects came with such terrible conclusions that the Rajput kingdoms (they accepted alliance to the Mughals under Emperor Akbar) also rebelled at the end . under aurangzeb's rule , came a reign of terror upon Sikhs too. Given which way madsusan is going, If i elaborate the atrocities in brief , i will surely get banned . so read it yourselves from google and other sources. he got 9th Guru of Sikhs and most of his family via his Governor in Punjab ,and after all of them refused to convert to Islam were executed in the most [Redacted] manner ( if you want a comparison , the same way imperial japanese army did to allied POWs and civilians in ww2 or Mongols did in their conquest ) . Then here's an interesting story 10th Guru and last Guru of the Sikhs , Guru Govind Singh ji made Khalsa (A sacred fighting force of Sikhs who fight for the downtrodden) , when he asked for a specific human sacrifice for victory in a Baisakhi Fair. out of a bewildered and frightened crowd , 5 men step forward and supposedly gave their lives inside a tent , each time , guru going inside the tent with a sword and coming out with that sword , now all in red. after then when nobody came forward , Guru revealed that this was just a trick , revealing that those 5 fellows are okay , the sword was drenched with crimson dye. The Guru rebuked the crowd for their cowardice and unwillingness to sacrifice their own lives for the sake of protecting the downtrodden and preserving Humanity. those 5 fellows eventually become known today as Panch (5) pyaares of Guru Gobind Singh. and helped him in organising his army of Righteousness ,"The Khalsa" , against the forces of corrupt and evil . and surprisingly, some warriors from Afghanistan joined too. It is because of them Hindus Sikhs and other non muslim populations are still thriving in the Punjab region, albeit now only in Indian Punjab.
