@monsieur1936 while I agree that most of Maratha navy was made of Ghurabs and Galivats , By 1760s , they had acquired some Galleons and even made their own. Also The Brits won only one decisive battle against the Marathas , The Third Anglo Maratha war out of the two , which was enough to make the Brits stay permanent in India for almost two centuries .

@plasma2125 Mysorean Infantry surely was better equipped than Marathas . But no way in Naval , Cavalry and Leadership they were better than Marathas. Except for Hyder Ali who was a military genius himself , Tipu had to struggle a lot with military incompetence and betrayal in his higher ranks. Also pretty much you haven't heard of Kanhoji Angre. But no one was able to beat him in his field and the reason why Maratha Navy became a key naval power in India many centuries after the Cholas , Pandyans , Pallavas and Gajapatis .

@mradulchourasiya3868 Sikh Empire under Maharaja Ranjith singh has the most modernised Indian armies of the 19th century with British weapins and Foreign Officers. As long as Ranjith singh was alive , Even the Brits didn't dare to cross into his side of Punjab. He has earned the title of Sher-E-Punjab after his massive victorg ratio against Afghan armies.
