  1. We have T-72s and now T-90s stationed in Ladakh near Depsang plains where a Tank battle is most likely plausible. Plus we are going to get 2S25 sprut SD self propelled gun and L&T 105mm Medium tank which will be having the same bustle autoloader system like it's ZT-15 counterpart.

No Chris . the ZT-15 has a belt based Bustle autoloader , similar to that of 1)Type 90 MBT of Japan 2) Type 10Next gen MBT of Japan 3)AMX Leclerc of France 4) K-2 Black Panther of South Korea They seen to have reverse engineered the Semi autoloader similar to a 2S1 Gvozdika (probably from the PLZ 89 ) and used it with the belt based Bustle autoloader instead of a carousel one. Plus Ukraine actually offered India a similar bustle autoloader technology for its Arjun Mk1 and Mk1 M /Mk 2 MBT.

  3.  @Alex-pj8nz  Armored clashes in Himalayas are virtually impossible. Himalayas are different from the Tibetan plateau where the ZTZ-15s are being tested and deployed. The best thing a tank can do is to act as a stationary Gun-pillbox and keep providing indirect or direct fire . But you are not wrong either. Since China overlooks The Depsang plains in Ladakh because of their occupation of much higher Askai chin ground , not to mention Armored clash is plausible in Depsang and it's also well connected with DBO Airfield, a major clash can happen there.

  4.  @andrewsuryali8540  The problem is more for Chinese since they cannot bring heavy equipment from their logistic lines connecting to Xinjiang in large numbers. because the most terrible terrain ( for heavier armor ) Askai Chin is under their occupation. On the Other hand the Border roads organisation has built many bridges and roads that are strong enough to withstand the arrival of a small tank column and has a large number of tanks to protect the DBO. hence while by Infantry we are outnumbered , but not by Armor, atleastfor now .

  5.  @andrewsuryali8540  As far as I remember Those tanks you saw are actually modernised Type 96/ZTZ-96 MBT which are the current backbone of PLA Armor . The ZTZ-99 has not been deployed yet in Tibet.

  8.  @Jake-dh9qk  that's why IA is working hard on procuring Light tanks . The two main contenders from the import list are the 2S25 sprut SD from Russia and K21-105 Doosan light Tank from South Korea. Both are amphibious, And also having hydropneumatic suspension for greater elevation and depression. The only advantage for 2S25 is in its 125mm Smoothbore gun which is decided from 125mm AT gun 2A18 . While the K21-105 can integrate many new modern electronics with it and newer upgrades have it possible to use ATGMs via gun ,but that is also possible in 2S25 too. Another two domestic contenders are from DRDO and L&T . We know where DRDO LT project went so no asking. L&T and DRDO decide to co-operate with the South Koreans to develop a new LT from the chassis of an Indian K9-Vajra 155mm SPH variant. All that we need is time. Since the Chinese had it earlier than us and they have progressed up so far.

  10.  @neillathotep7386  Actually the concept of T-34-85 as a Medium tank deployed like shocktroopers as well as the Gun caliber (85mm) . The Gun in Type 62 Light Tank is based on on both the 85mm Tank gun as well as the 85mm Divisional gun D-44. Plus both are paper thin armored tanks lol XD.

  12.  @andrewsuryali8540  I rechecked again and no. The PLA hasn't deployed their latest ZTZ-99 which they have decided to keep in the North Eastern provinces . I reviewed the ANI video and came to a conclusion that the PLA had Type-80/88 and Type-96 Tanks deployed in the region. The Indian side mistook the ype-96 as Type-99. However China do have plans to perma deploy their new VT-4/MBT-3000 Tanks in Tibet.

  13. You don't need to worry about the Type 15 Chris. It's meant for the Indian Army and Indian army has a lot of options in Hand when it comes to make toast out of enemy Tanks.
