Uk will grow bananas and olive oil.

@dgnash I don't know. Maybe someone should ask the Brexit Party?

@Spinler Muckflitt What about the back garden of Farage's luxury home on Chelsea paid for by Aaron Banks?
1
Presumably that's the best they could find. They could hardly ask Aaron Banks.

Loved the publican. After five pints, it's all looking rosy ...

Will you make them?

@dgnash How much will medicines go up as a consequence of a no-deal Brexit?
1
@dgnash How does £3.9 billion relate to ten years and £39 billion? It's reported that pharmaceutical companies are leaving the UK: today's world isn't a matter of 'our' companies and 'their' companies, they are multinational and it seems they'll want to be in the EU single market, even if they'll face WTO tariffs in exporting to the UK (where prices will rise as a result). https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/brexit/brexit-mess-is-a-crushing-disaster-for-uk-business-says-cbi-chief/ar-AABsrW8?li=BBoPRmx

@dgnash Be clear. Under WTO rules, tarrifs can't discriminate between members. It would have to be a zero rate on all imported medicines. Would this be just for medicines? Or for say food products? https://www.wto.org/english/thewto_e/whatis_e/tif_e/fact2_e.htm

@dgnash I see, so you're saying this £39 billion would be absorbed by the higher cost of medicines. And this justifies leaving the world's largest single market? That's calamitous.
1
@dgnash It's clear from your intemperate language that you are motivated more by a commitment to a hard Brexit and an ideological hatred of the EU than by any interest in medicines. Given British exports to the EU (currently 44% of the total) will face EU tariffs unless there is an agreement over access to the "protection racket" (ie the EU single market) then I would assume the UK would levy tarrifs against EU goods - and if they don't then these new British drugs companies that are suddenly going to emerge will be immediately uncompetitive. And there is no "trade with individual European countries" - 27 are in the EU and more in the single market.
1
When will you start manufacturing animal medicines? And if you have no plans, have you any evidence anyone else in the UK is planning to do so?
1
@dgnash Are you saying the £39 billion saved by exiting the EU should be used to subsidise medicines?
1
@dallysinghson5569 No worries, Trump is promising a trade deal ... like the ones with China and Mexico.
