@goose4919 Funny boy! Have you ever defied "authority"? Have you ever demanded a cop identify himself with driver's license, proof of insurance, and current registration, the litany they like to throw at everyone else? Have you ever stood up to the IRS and told them to take a flying leap and lived without a bank account?
No, you are the sniveling coward, cowering before false "authority".
My king (and yours whether you like it or not) is God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
I don't "follow what they say" whoever you mean by that indefinite pronoun "they". What you actually mean is that you have no idea what you are saying so you rely on some unknown "they" as your authority. I start with physical evidence. I can't know everything, but I can focus on details such as atomic structure to understand the rest. Not that you are capable of understanding what he meant, but what Lord Rutherford said, "All science is either physics or stamp collecting." is true.
A point I have made over and over again in these comments is that from my experience about 99% of the people who claim to be Christian have never read the Bible, do not understand the meaning of Christianity, do not tithe, are committed to nothing, and are not Christian. The definition of Christian is elect of God. By their fruit, the degree to which they obey God, you can know them.

@goose4919 I have no problem recognizing delegated authority. In the land of the free and the home of the brave there is supposed to be a rule of law. Encoded statute, bare edict, and the spleen of a functionally illiterate cop do not rise to the level of law. You are really dense if you still think that I would "blindly follow" anyone. I leave that entirely to you. Who is Fred? To the extent he accurately repeats what God has said, he speaks with the authority of God. I would also go to him for legal advice since he is a lawyer and has successfully defended in civil rights cases. You do not read the Bible. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you is not God's golden rule. God's "golden rule" is to love the Lord your God with all your heart mind and soul and to love your neighbor as yourself. The definition of neighbor was the Good Samaritan who ministered to his fellow man with no thought of recompense.
You talk to me about works? Your fake religion is based on meritorious works. In your doctrine, Jesus' propitiatory sacrifice of himself was not sufficient for the salvation of God's elect, purgatory must be invented! It was just an accidental benefit that the doctrine of purgatory increased cash flow into the Vatican.
Liberation theology? You mean socialist, a system where that collection of people who call themselves government plan how they can force productive people to support them in luxury. Your game is to rob anyone who has anything under the banner of the greater good. However, the only system that brings prosperity to everyone - rich or poor - is the free market. I mean free market - no government interference, everything anyone wants to exchange is for sale and is driven by the buyer, not the seller. If the buyer doesn't buy, the seller is stuck until he finds a buyer with whom he can agree. No coercion, no regulation, no taxes is the definition of free market.

@eclectic2327 I didn't write "rare": I wrote impossible, as in that cannot be. God is not some "man in the clouds". God spoke the earth, the universe, living things and mankind into being without exertion or effort.
Now you go off and make some matter and then make that matter come to life if you really believe what you write. Billions of dollars in private money and tax money have been expended in a quest to prove anything can exist apart from God. The entire mission to Mars is rooted in the hope that where scientists with unlimited funds have failed to create life using existing matter, they might find it on Mars.
What really mystifies me, however, is why anyone would want a purposeless existence, why anyone would think being Carl Sagan's "star stuff" is satisfactory, with no ethics, no good and evil, love merely a biological chemical reaction, no afterlife, etc.
There is a purpose for my life and it is outside of me. Ditto for you, too bad you refuse to admit it. Oh, best wishes for your homemade biological cell. All the elements you need are available, you merely have to put them together and make them come to life.
Notice how the written word persists over millennia? God knows very well how to communicate with mankind, whom He made in his image and likeness.

@keegyweegy7803 What did God say about that? See how you can read for yourself? Assuming you can read. Perhaps you struggle with Old English, so read the ESV.
Genesis 1
"And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. 28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.*n15
29 ¶And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. 30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.
31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
Genesis 2
" 16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: 17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
18 ¶And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. 19 And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof. 20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him. 21 And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
22 And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. 24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed."

@goose4919 According to God, God's covenant law is in effect forever. Matthew 5:17-20
"Matt 5:17 "¶Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil."
Matt 5:18 "For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled."
Matt 5:19 "Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven."
Matt 5:20 "For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven."
All has not yet been fulfilled. Mankind is still bound to follow God's covenant law, which is in Exodus, Leviticus, Deuteronomy, and the New Testament.

@goose4919 Nope, as I already quoted Jesus - very God and very man - for you, Jesus said God's law is forever binding on mankind. As I also point out to you, Jesus' advent abrogated the ceremonial, bloodline, and sacrificial laws and later the dietary laws. The rest of God's covenant law stands.
Since you atheists don't know Christian doctrine, when Jesus rules on something, it is because there is complete agreement on the something among the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Also, everything Jesus said trumps all mere mortals. I see you struggle with that concept, too bad, that is what God said and therefore that is Christian doctrine.
