That's why Christians are grateful for salvation - there is absolutely nothing any of us can do to merit salvation from the consequences of our sin (sin is disobedience and dishonor of God, such as intentionally not capitalizing his name which is a proper noun.) I know of no one who is forced into Christianity. I know many who have left the church and all that means is that they were never elect in the first place. A Christian cannot stop being a Christian.

What really mystifies me, however, is why anyone would want a purposeless existence, why anyone would think being Carl Sagan's "star stuff" is satisfactory, with no ethics, no good and evil, love merely a biological chemical reaction, no afterlife, etc. There is a purpose for my life and it is outside of me. All the elements you need are available, you merely have to put them together and make them come to life. Notice how the written word persists over millennia? Matt 5:18 "For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled." Matt 5:19 "Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven." Matt 5:20 "For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven." All has not yet been fulfilled. Mankind is still bound to follow God's covenant law, which is in Exodus, Leviticus, Deuteronomy, and the New Testament.
