@shyman3000 According to Georgia law, it was a deadly weapon.
1
@shyman3000 Even the district attorney acknowledges that it is.
1
@shyman3000 Well, I assume you were being sarcastic... In which it didn't go over my head.
1
@shyman3000 What don't I get?
1
@shyman3000 Okay, well come back to me when you have an actual argument.
1
@shyman3000 I value human life. You just value the life of a criminal using deadly force and not the officers being shot at.
1
@shyman3000 Go troll someone else.
1
@shyman3000 You don't have a valid argument, which is obvious. Come back with facts and we can have a discussion.
1
@shyman3000 You're wrong, but feel free to continue to lie.
1
@shyman3000 Either way we can be happy that he got his job back with back pay. Take care.
1
@shyman3000 It confirms that I do value human life. The life of the person being attacked with deadly force who then defended his life.
1
One can run for their life, but his life wasn't on the line here when he ran. He put his life in danger when he fired a firearm at both officers.
1
@cathyluv08 Or you could tell me how you think I'm wrong.
1
@cathyluv08 I know, you suggested that the cop defy physics and will himself to be faster.
1
Brooks stole the officer's firearm (taser) and used deadly force. This race isn't his cause for his death.
1
He saw the flash of the taser and the pop it makes when Brooks fired it at the officer. There's a difference between the sounds, but if someone shot a weapon at me that made a flash/bang sound, I would have taken them out too. Unlawful firing of the taser is considered deadly force.
1
Brooks use of a taser is considered deadly force.
1
Yes, because it is okay for a drunk driver to be passed out in their drive thru lane.
1
This isn't a race issue, you're just racist.
1
That's not a good idea. Would you do this for every drunk person driving on the road? What happens when he fights the uber driver or walks through traffic drunk and gets someone killed? They should definitely put him in the drunk tank. They don't have to charge him, but they should 100% get him off of the streets.
1
@Meu Deus é Fiel Unless he stops running and drive stuns the officer and takes the officer's gun.
1
"And he ends up dead" Justifiably so. If you don't want to be shot, don't use deadly force against an officer.
1
@eshep71 An unlawful use of a taser is considered deadly force. This doesn't matter if it is by an officer or by the public. The real question should be, why is an unlawful use of a taser considered deadly by a police officer, but not when used against a violent felon. Not once did I see the district attorney say that Brooks used deadly force, and the media often doesn't even mention that Brooks fired the taser at the officers. My guess is that they didn't want a racist mob burning their city, as the media had a clear agenda. Just 10 days before this incident, the district attorney stated that the police officer who (allegedly) unlawfully tasered a citizen used deadly force as it is considered deadly force under Georgia law. If found guilty, both instances of an unlawful use of a taser would be considered deadly force.
1
I am pretty sure they were charged to avoid racist mobs who can't look at the facts objectively. The officer was rehired and given full backpay.
1
His back being turned means nothing when he was firing a weapon at the officer while his back was turned.
1
He could, if he wasn't drunk.
1
He did drive drunk, which is how he passed out in his car in a driving lane. It isn't as if he was parked in a parking spot. He passed out. The officer should not be charged with murder. Brooks used deadly force, so the officer took him out.
1
Anyone who fires a taser at an officer should expect to be shot.
1
Because he was going back to prison. They aren't going to let him bail out. I do agree with you though, fire a taser at someone and you should expect to be taken down.
1
Because the police were not able to protect everyone. They weren't able to protect Kyle, they weren't able to protect many people. Kyle was putting out fires that the police weren't able to stop. Kyle was giving medical aid because there were no ambulances to help.
1
Yes, ignore the fact that he was firing a weapon at the officers.
1
The man used deadly force against the officer, he had a right to take the man down.
1
@Periador According to Georgia law, they are deadly weapons when used by criminals. Just ask the District Attorney.
1
@chrisr5719 He had the right to remain silent, but I don't think he had the ability to, considering how drunk he was.
1
@chrisr5719 don't drink and drive...
1
Agreed, I don't like the narration of this video, BUT it does show good camera angles that many videos miss.
1
He did, he used deadly force so he was taken down.
1
Oh, I am sure they didn't need the breathalyzer. He admitted to drinking and he passed out whole driving.
1
The police did their job here. The man shouldn't have fought them and fired deadly force at the officers.
1
@Ploid. Your opinion is noted.
1
Yeah, he was. That doesn't protect him from being arrested for his crimes.
1
Bad idea. The officer already missed him, which could have hit an innocent person (Fortunately it hit their car). If they had shot at their legs then the chance of missing is much higher, this is dangerous.
1
It isn't as if he pulled into a parking spot to sleep. He passed out while driving in a drive through lane after driving drunk. He commit a crime, violating his probation.
1
That's messed up blaming the worker for doing what they should do in that situation. The person was passed out on drugs and alcohol, that's a bad combination to have in public while driving a vehicle. They need to be removed from the street, even if just put on the drunk tank to sleep it off. It isn't the worker's fault that the criminal became violent, stole and fired a firearm at the officers.
1
Because he was about to spend time in prison.
1
He was cool headed until he fought them, stole their firearm (taser) and then used deadly force against the officers, which caused his death.
1
Race has nothing to do with this. IF someone attacks a cop, takes their firearm (taser) and tries using it on them, they should be taken down.
1
Do you have a link to this?
1
Well, he did steal the officer's firearm (taser) so it would be reasonable to think that is a possibility.
1
@leeanncharles4523 Getting murdered is wrong, but no one was murdered here.
