Comments by "" (@stevec6427) on "Rishi Sunak must ‘come clean’ and publish financial interests, demands Starmer" video.
Is the Trilateral Commission this week's conspiracy theory target of choice?

All MP's have to disclose their financial interests in a register which is then published so Starmer has done although he did disclose some interests later than he should have. Sunak on the other hand just didn't disclose his which is why he is under investigation. Financial interests to be disclose include those of close family and spouses. Sunak not only failed to disclose, he then arranged a trial policy which his wife would be a major financial beneficiary through the undisclosed shareholding

@redgate0587 He has

It's a fair demand since it's a parliamentary regulation that MP's must declare financial interests including those of immediate family and spouses and Sunak failed to do so. Is there anything to suggest Starmer has not done so?

Well it is the entire point of the opposition to make the public aware of the failings of the government and challenge them on their policies so he kind of was asked when voted in as leader of the second largest party

All politicians have to, and do disclose financial interests to a register which is then published. Sunak did not follow that rule. Starmer was slower than he should have been to disclose a few interests but they were worth peanuts compared to Sunak's plus Starmer didn't then award a contract to his own undisclosed interest. Financial interests which must be disclosed include those of spouses and close family so Sunak doesn't get out that way

@crazyboy2006cashier If you read the details of the issue. He was late declaring them but did declare them. He never would have got caught out if he hadn't declared them at all. Taking too long to declare is not as bad as not declaring at all and then paying millions of tax payers money to that financial interest. It's not even in the same league

He didn't. Go and read about what happened. He actually had no direct involvement in the case. The evidence submitted to the CPS was too weak and would have been thrown out of court thereby achieving nothing. The police were sent away to strengthen the case so Saville could be prosecuted

@christopherwithers999 Would you pay for your flights if they were for work and you have to fly on a private aircraft because security won't allow you to fly on commercial flights? Did you know we paid £120,000 for Boris to have a holiday for four weeks after he was booted out as PM?

@christopherwithers999 Looks like that £8k flight was flights and food for himself and 6 others for a trip to meet members of the US government and the food included hospitality for the Americans. There, research done

That is the role of opposition. Their purpose is to hold the government to account and make sure we know about their failings and wrong doing. I hope the tories do exactly the same when they are in opposition
