The tories killed recruitment in to teaching and retention of staff. The pay is dreadful. They have been trying to recruit from my profession, engineering for science and maths teachers for years yet the starting pay is about half an engineers salary. If they want good quality teachers, with industry or business experience then salaries have to be raised significantly. Yes the holidays are nice but they don't pay the bills

She gets arrested and released without charge because there's no actual crime

I wonder whether there will be tory outrage at these protesters blocking roads. Or is it ok when they agree with the protest. This whole thing will fizzle out quickly enough when the majority of people realise their car is exempt the charge and businesses can reclaim the charge.
9
Worth remembering that a considerable percentage of our drinking water comes from these polluted rivers
9
He absolutely should. The reason he doesn't is that George Bush would have to as well for the same reason
9
@MrDominicg90 I clearly remember everything being in a much better state under Labour
9
State visits are pretty much all monarchs do. This isn't anything Queen Elizabeth didn't do
7
It's only crime free because there's no cops

No elections have been cancelled. Some have been postponed due to council mergers, some due to a lack of candidates and some at the request of ill prepared councils on the verge of bankruptcy. Several requested postponements but Raynor rejected them.
5
It's not working for the tories either. After a month and a half of going after this one policy, they have gained nothing in the polls
5
@alirenfro2526 BLM and Antifa have no marxist ideology. I've looked for it and can only find suggestions of it on rightwing news outlets. I'm on the left and support no one being violent no matter who or why.
5
They've really hit the highest standards of mediocrity in the lineup this year. It's really gone down hill since Emily Eavis took over booking bands
5
@Oscarisladad Firstly it was only $100bn the US provided, $300bn was the total provided by all countries. Secondly, It was never given as a loan so cannot be demanded back
5
That's fine as long as you don't try to change a community which locals are happy with or try to force your beliefs or religion on others
5
@PrivateWalker You are mistaken, it's the tories who have consistently funneled as much money as possible to corporations, that's why so many of them donate to the tory party
4
Is it up to them to clean up the mess made by a water company not meeting their obligations? Windermere isn't an English Heritage property anyway so why would it be anything to do with them?
4
That is true
4
@Julieoscar1 How did they legally get his bank account details? Is this going to be another one of those cases which goes: "We have the evidence to prove he's guilty" "Ok show us the evidence" "We definitely have the evidence are you calling us liars?" "It would be useful to see the evidence" "I'm not going to show you but I definitely have it" etc, etc, etc

Ideally to a treatment works where the solids can be separated out through a combination of settlement and filtration processes, the PH balanced and nasty chemicals neutralised. The relatively clean water can then be safely discharged to a river or sea, the organic solids dried and either sent to landfill or used for fertaliser and the inorganic solids incinerated or sent to landfill. Gasses can also be collected during the treatment process and used to generate electricity. How's that sound?

@mn5499 Yes. Compared to other skilled professions, £33k is a terrible wage. We pay graduates straight out of uni with no experience £32k and if they're good they'll be on £50k in under a decade
3
It's tory speak for "Poor northerners, you should vote for us"
3
@mn5499 £35 is a terrible wage for a job that requires a degree qualification. I'm qualified to the same academic level as a nurse, I have far less responsibility, I never work shifts or nights, I never go beyond my contracted hours, and I never face threats of violence from the public but I get roughly 60% more than a nurse and that's fairly typical in most professions requiring a similar academic qualification. In fact I can't think of any skilled profession which pays less.

just remember when you argue against other people's right to protest you also argue against your own right to protest. I actually agree with her on this one. Businesses and rich people shouldn't be able to buy influence in government. It should be illegal for political parties of all persuasions to take donations from anyone. They should be funded only by their membership
3
I completely agree. Just pure, unbiased news doesn't seem to be a thing. There is nowhere that just give facts, no opinion, no being selective, just facts without their interpretation
3
The problem is our media is very politically biased so he doesn't get the opportunity to present policies to the public and what the media chooses to report is mostly half truths and very selective. They published a full set of policies right after their party conference, it was briefly reported but not much
3
We had Boris. He had charisma and personality. He was also a lying useless self serving walking ego. I'd rather have dull
3
Some good news at last. After losing two friends to drugs, I have a deep hatred for drug gangs
3
Im more worried about the fact that he's doing a worse job of controlling the integrity of his party than Michael Barrymore
3
If Britain stopped supplying weapons to Israel then Syria wouldn't need aid
2
@bigbarry8343 India has lower emissions per capita than the UK
2
The Canadian trucker protests just died out when locals got bored of them protesting restrictions that had already ended
2
Thats not actually true. There's no houses available for migrants either
2
The issue with that is that we actually have quite high employment and there are enough vacancies for 100% employment. We don't need more jobs, we need better pay and conditions for people in jobs
2
@JagoSevatar-j6v very few farms are owned by farmers. Most are owned by Lords who lease them to the farmers. A family owned farm would have to be worth over £3m to qualify for inheritance tax.
2
No it isn't. Energy is sold on the international markets. Prices are determined by the balance of supply and demand, the producers have absolutely no control over pricing. The only people getting rich from high energy prices are the oil companies. The UK tax payer, subsidises the oil industry £10bn per year to produce oil which then goes straight to the international markets with no preferential pricing or security for the UK. Meanwhile the windfall tax announced by Sunak has so far only been applied to green energy companies due to the massive loophole for oil & gas companies
2
Rwandan politicians are fine, upstanding people who are not at all corrupt. now I'm off to the Porsche dealer with the money I was paid to say that
2
Would you rather tories giving billions of our money to their mates?
2
@cirrus393 Can we get anyone less competent?
2
What do you expect the opposition to do other than highlight the failings of the government? They have no power there to do anything and it is their job to hold the government to account and at the moment, that's not difficult
2
@Y.JFavello Ukraine didn't apply to join NATO until after Russia started their invasion. Why shouldn't they join NATO? They clearly needed protection from NATO. There never was an agreement stopping Ukraine joining, only stopping NATO bases in East Germany
2
Are you against free speech?
2
You think that group of billionaires cares at all about the average people?
2
Both sides cannot work together for the benefit of the country because they have opposing views as to what benefits the country. I believe both sides genuinely believe they are doing the right thing
2
@Andrea-sp9gj France suggested re-opening the Calais asylum center. It was Boris's choice to close it and the tories refused to re-open it despite the fact it means channel crossings become pointless and stop over night and we don't have to accommodate people waiting processing. I'm sure the tories manufactured this whole mess deliberately so they can say "look at this mess we've got. Vote for us because Labour will make it worse even though we caused it"
2
Israel have already admitted they intend to retain Palestinian territory at the end of this conflict which is completely illegal
2
You know Starmer wasn't involved with the Savile case? If he was, don't you think the tories would be all over it?
2
We are still paying for huge subsidies to the oil companies while they make enormous profits fleecing us but they do pay big donations to the tory party
1
How do they work together? The conservatives have an 80 seat majority, they can do as they please without any help from Labour. Labour cannot block any legislation
1
@oweng7987 The US has been using Ukraine to fight a proxy war against Russia. Nothing has been free
