The publics lack of disposable income is going to hit them soon enough when we can't buy their products. As an example, I was planning to buy a new motorcycle this year but because the cost of living is rising, I'll be holding off that purchase so that dealer loses a sale, Triumph motorcycles loses a sale, I won't be paying for servicing etc. I won't be the only one in that position so those businesses will feel. I'm fortunate, I'm just avoiding a luxury item. Many less fortunate people will have to cut back on essentials. Sooner or later when businesses start going bust the government will have to do something.
