  2. When I was studying mechanical engineering, our rather evil mechanics lecturer gave us a mathematical problem to solve in metric and imperial. In metric I solved it in my head in about a minute. In imperial it took ten minutes and I needed to write down half a page of equations with all the conversion factors. It's things like 1 metre cubed of water is 1000kg, 10 metre deep water has a pressure of 1 bar at the bottom. If I raise 1kg by 1 metre then it has 1 joule of potential energy. Metric is simple and logical.

  3. So we're going to ditch a system used by virtually world wide system of measures and chhange to a system used by only one other major economy but we'll be using a different version if it to them because US imperial isn't the same as British imperial.
