7:06 : to me they look like the same person - same shape of the tip of the nose, same slope of the eyebrow and same bottom lip and chin. A face recognition expert would be able to confirm without doubt if they are the same, 'though. The first picture looks pudgier and older, but that could be from the thick greatcoat and chin strap digging into his cheek, and his pursed lip expression

I agree. I agree completely. A facial recognition expert would also be able to confirm for the Imperial War Museum beyond doubt and I think there is even computer software that can do that, too, these days.

I always wondered about that footage. Something else occurred to me while I was watching this: over 100 years after the end of "the war to end all wars" and once again a British government is telling its people to prepare for the possibility of sending their children to kill other peoples' children and get killed by other peoples' children in another foreign war but this time its Russia. The political class hasn't changed at all in over a hundred years - but thank God the ordinary people of this country are no longer listening to them
