  1. I recently read a book about the Penal Code in Ireland: the things that were done in that country are far worse than anything I've heard or read about traditionally 'oppressed' peoples. But the perpetrators of all this died hundreds of years ago: I don't see the logic in making innocent people take the blame and pay the price for the guilty. many, if not most, British people were living in poverty and serfdom themselves at the time.
