  13. Amazing how we reveal ourselves as no better than the racist lynch mobs of the deep south or the witch hunters of the medieval times when presented with a scapegoat. I've been following this conflict since 2014 and you are being lied to wholesale about Ukraine. In 2014 the elected government was overthrown in a violent coup and a new government was installed, comprising mostly of the Right Sector party (I strongly advise you to research these guys). Shortly afterwards the Russian language was banned and then the attacks began on East Ukraine which is mainly ethnic Russian: these escalated to massacres which culminated in 50 people being burned to death inside a Trade Union building: those who escaped were bludgeoned or shot to death. In response to the pogroms Crimea voted to join the Russian federation whilst Donbass (East Ukraine) took up arms to defend itself and the 2014-16 war in East Ukraine began. Russia was not directly involved at this stage but did support Donbass. In 2016 when Ukraine's (Kiev's) forces were on the verge of defeat, Putin urged East Ukraine to ceasefire and agree a peace deal with Kiev. This resulted in the Minsk Peace Agreement. As soon as it was signed Kiev forces began attacking East Ukraine again and have been doing so ever since despite numerous diplomatic efforts by the Russians. In February 2022 Ukraine's (Kiev's) military intensified shelling of Donbass and began amassing on the border: it was obvious what was coming, so East Ukraine mobilised and invited Russia in to help them end this once and for all. I don't know why the media is pushing the narrative that they're pushing and I don't know why so many people are so ready to believe the same media and political class that told us Iraq had weapons of mass destruction: that lie cost 1 million lives (and counting).
