I've been following that conflict since 2014: you may notice that none of these news channels want to talk about the 8 years before Russia finally intervened. Russia didn't invade: they were invited in by East Ukraine after 8 years of attacks and shelling from Kiev's forces from the West. You're listening to the same people who told you Iraq had WMDs. If you really knew what is going on there, and what has been going on there, you'd be shocked.

And believing the same liars who told you Iraq had weapons of mass destruction, your instincts may not be as finely tuned as you thought they were.

@bonnie7898 Yes it was 8 years of shelling and attacks. The US State Dept spent $5bn overthrowing the elected govt of Ukraine (don't bother denying it, they talk about it themselves) - then the Right Sector under Petro Poroshenko was installed. Shortly afterwards the Russian language was banned - and then the attacks on ethnic Russians began, which quickly escalated to killings and culminated in the massacre by burning alive of ethnic Russian protestors in the Union Building in Odessa: The paramilitary group that slaughtered them (The Azov Group) was then given its own regiment within the Ukraine Army as a result. Seeing what was coming Crimea voted to join the Russian Federation to protect itself, while Donetsk and Luhansk took up arms to protect themselves. In the war that followed Ukraine forces were being badly beaten in Donbas so they agreed to peace: The Minsk agreement was signed, East Ukraine stuck to the agreement, Kiev carried on shelling and attacking East Ukraine, despite numerous requests by East Ukraine and the Russians to stop the shelling. In February 2022 shelling intensified and Kiev forces began amassing on the border once again. Once again it was obvious what was coming: so this time Donetsk and Luhansk asked Russia to recognise them as independent states (granted) and then invited Russia in to end this once and for all. Everything I wrote is a matter of record. DON'T LIE.

@Peter-ed9zi Well - Crimea voted to rejoin the Russian Federation. Anyone who doesn't respect that has no position talking about democracy. Donbas already beat Kiev's forces in 2015 - and were getting ready to annihilate what was left until Kiev's backers ran to Putin begging him to use his inlfuence to get Donbas to agree to peace talks. We now know (because Merkel & Hollande admitted it) that this was a ruse. Russia has, in this current conflict, been using about 10% of what it could: there will be no stalemate if NATO carries on being as insane as it has been. The military industrial Complex is not going to win this one.

@Just_a_wild_guess Crimea ran straight to the polling stations after the MASSACRE of ethnic Russians in the Union Building at Odessa, when they were locked in the building and burned alive - and those who escaped were either bludgeoned or shot: after the massacre the perpetrators (azov paramilitaries) were offered their own regiment within the Ukraine Army. Don't LIE about votes. Crimea knew what was coming at the hands of these mass murderers and had already seen plenty of attacks leading up to this massacre. Kiev forces were TROUNCED in 2015 and ran to NATO to bail them out. The only reason they are even functional now is because NATO is giving them everything it has. If you're going to argue a point - DON't LIE.

@Peter-ed9zi Theses days there is no such thing as being on the right side of the US: its either "Be a willing puppet or face economic ruin, violent overthrow or invasion". I've been following this conflict since 2014, which is probably eight years longer than most people who are commenting on this now. The US is not facing farmers with AK 47s this time: they are facing a military superpower that realises it is facing an existential threat. Completely different game.
