I've been following the conflict in Ukraine since 2014 and you are not being told what's going on there. The conflict is between East and West Ukraine and it is being fought on East Ukrainian soil. In 2014 the elected government was overthrown and the newly installed government/military began attacking East Ukraine, which is mainly ethnic Russian. A brief war followed until the East until the Minsk peace agreement was signed. But the Ukraine military carried on attacking East Ukraine, despite numerous diplomatic efforts to stop this. In February the Ukraine army began intense shelling of the East again whilst troops amassed on the border: this time East Ukraine had had enough: they mobilised and asked Russia to help them push this assault back and end it once and for all. These are the facts. I would recommend Patrick Lancaster and Graham Phillip's channels both of whom have been on the frontlines on the ground since 2014: also the Grayzone and The Duran for analysis of what's going on.

@janetlynham2989 Tell me what I said that isn't true. I don't watch Russian channels or look at Russian news. I follow the work of Independent journalists - none of whom are Russian by the way: Patrick Lancaster, Max Blumenthal, the Grayzone, the Duran and Max Clarke. So if you would tell me where I am speaking untruths please do. I care about all the people of Ukraine - and they are being used by people who don't care about them.

@kevin10000 It's true they were one country, but that didn't stop the Ukraine military from attacking the East which is what caused this whole conflict in the first place. I'd be interested in knowing more specifics about your claim that the Russians and DPR have been killing ethnic Russian speakers. As for nato's involvement: you'd need to be blind not to see their huge involvement in all this: a French journalist came back from Azovstal recently and reported that American commanders are in charge there.

@janetlynham2989 Here we go again: if you don't agree with me, then argue your point.

@kbpeters4246 Yanukovych was driven from office with the help of $5bn US State dept money: and before you call that a wild claim they admit it themselves. The Right Sector government that followed was not elected but installed. Zelensky's government was elected by the overwhelming majority of Ukrainians with the mandate of honouring Minsk and normalising relations with East Ukraine and Russia - then suddenly things changed, mainly because of the huge Right Sector and other extreme elements within his government. I even heard a credible claim that he was threatened if he tried to go ahead with his mandate. Apart from that claim which I can't verify, everything else I mentioned is fact. P.S. I know what the official line is over nato involvement, but if you were really being honest with me and with yourself you would see that nato's grubby fingerprints are all over this. They don't care whether Ukraine joins or not, they don't care if every man, woman and child perishes - they are currently destroying Ukraine just to use it as a battering ram against Russia whilst denying any involvement: plausible deniability, I think it's called.

@CollectiveDefence If you don't agree, argue your pint and tell me why - calling me a bot only makes you sound like an idiot.

@kevin10000 If the words "textbook propaganda" is the only thing you can offer I think your 'extensive overseas knowledge' has let you down somewhat. I don't watch any Russian channels or read any Russian articles: I get my information from people like Patrick Lancaster, an independent journalist who has been on the ground, on the frontlines since 2014: I follow Graham Phillips and Max Clarke for the exact same reason. I also follow 'The Grayzone' and 'The Duran' for their own analysis and knowledge, and the wide range of experts they interview. Their proven knowledge of Ukraine with facts and figures is far more reliable than someone whose sole argument is having 'extensive overseas knowledge'.
