  1. Russia had no choice. 3 weeks ago the Ukraine govt military amassed 60,000 troops on the east Ukraine border and started shelling East Ukraine (again). East Ukraine is mainly ethnic Russian. The Ukraine military has been attacking East Ukraine for years despite numerous diplomatic efforts to stop it. The shelling and mobilisation was the final straw.

  3. East or West Ukraine? This conflict is between East and West Ukraine and began in 2014 when the new government began attacking East Ukraine which is mainly ethnic Russian. Moscow tried for 8 years to diplomatically end it but with no results. In February the Ukraine military began intense shelling of Donbass (East Ukraine) while troops amassed on the border - East Ukraine reacted - and asked for Russia's help in its defence. These are the facts.
