  1. US is currently at war with Venezuela. Most of it is economic warfare in the form of sanctions that kills some 40k people per year. Israel is USA's expanding weapons colony in oil country. It gives Israel about $4 billion every year. In the mid-90s, when Venezuela was still run by the oligarchs, the economic problems were exactly the same - although the impact on regular people would have been much worse. Recall that actual democracy broke as the result of food riots. The problems go back to when Venezuela was a Spanish sugar cane colony run by a handful of Spanish families who ran a single industry economy and imported everything, including food.  These problems could be overcome if the option existed to run the country in the interest of 99%. Thus far, doing so has meant attempted coups, terrorist attacks, invasions like The Bay of Piglets😹and so on by the global superpower. Then they say, 'Socialism doesn't work'🤣
