After the last rejected peace proposals and the terrorist attacks - about 6 months ago? - Russia concluded they were going to have to push forward to force a complete surrender and they mobilised A LOT of soldiers. So rather than a broken front line, they now have a solid front line and 100s of 1000s more troops are being prepared for the Russian offensive to win the war. I have no sense of how long war takes, but the general sense from people like Col. MacGregor, or Scott Ritter, is that Russia will push forward to the Dnieper River and demand a 'Japanese' surrender in a matter of months. On the other hand, NeoCons in NATO seem intent to push for WW3, ie. will never allow Ukraine to surrender and will escalate. NATO also has the war on China simmering

According to former UN weapons inspector Scott Ritter, on Sept 16 there were back channel talks (as they have no diplomatic comms!!!) - before Blinkin gave Zelensky permission to directly involve NATO personnel in attacks - wherein the Russians explained if they were going down, exactly how US/UK would be going down with them. Of course, any conventional war between nuclear powers will eventually go nuclear, so it must be avoided at all costs. Sadly, our current leaders do not seem to know this any more, despite the proxy war in Ukraine. (Why a proxy war then? Why not attack directly?)  It seems US listened and backed away from the brink, but UK never got the memo.🙄Or they are pretending to keep up the pressure for the information war (on us). Considering all this, despite living in Kent, I'm intensely relaxed about the alleged ship danger. Western media has a major Boy Who Cried Wolf problem, ie. I believe nothing about Russia, China, Iran, Venezuela, or other official enemies.  In any case, we're already lucky to be alive again. I think it's great having these existential crisis to meditate on. It makes life seem more precious. And it seems especially potent being about nothing. Vaporizing humanity for nothing provides us with the perfect existential context to live our fullest lives. Thank you, British Establishment for making life precious (except for those needlessly sacrificed to the gods of Austerity and freezing out pensioners, but what is 30,000 needless deaths per year in the context of human annihilation?)

I suppose they are 'moral panics,' but I'm not sure about that either. As examples, the official word is often 'crisis,' as in the 'Migrant Crisis' or the 'Antisemitism Crisis,' but a crisis is real, and we are talking about simple, emotional, sensational, mass mediated public relations campaigns driven with anxiety and panic. In geopolitics, they are typically mirror-projections, ie. we scare people with the idea other countries are doing to us the things we secretly do to them. Where would they keep their aircraft carriers? Bigger question: why does Israel resort to terrorism when they have a military? The answer to both is asymmetric warfare resulting from settler colonialism, military occupation and geography. With Gaza, the state of Israel is effectively at war with a city. EVERYBODY knows this! Why pretend we can't deal with Hamas because terrorism. It's a terrorist war by definition! Both sides resort to terrorism. But for the West, the people of Gaza are as invisible as those in Donetsk, who were shelled daily by Kyiv for 8 years while the West ignored it and pretended it's not happening.
