I read Anne Sebba's book "That Woman", very interesting reading. Something that I noticed was the number of people who were keeping diaries during the time period covered here, Mary Kirk Raffray being only one of them, diaries that would later provide information for the book.

From what we can see of the letters it appears they were written on high-quality paper that might have what is known as a high rag content that would mean little or no discoloration over time. Too if the papers were stored away from sunlight and especially in a cool, dry environment the paper could look almost if not exactly as good as it did when first written on. Good-quality ink could help also; ink of an inferior quality can eventually start breaking down the paper.

@Daphattack When i was in high school in the 1970's one of my teachers (he actually taught Government and not Literature) would read Jane Austen's works over and over. I have a hunch that Mr. Hannah would have said there's no such thing as reading Jane Austen too much!

Outstanding! One of the best documentaries I've ever seen and having Gwedolen Chatfield, who look slsike Jane Austen, portraying the author with the author's own words make this production even better. To everyone in and who made this documentary: well done!

@ohdear2275 Yes to both. I enjoyed "That Woman" and found it to be well-written book with some new information. It's been a while since I read "That Woman" but it may have been there that I first learned of the Duke of Windsor and Ernest Simpson both being Freemasons. Just recently on Facebook there was some discussion of Prince Harry often being sceen holding his hand in front of his abdomen and that it may be a Masonic sign or gesture. It would be interesting to know if his brother Prince William and their father King Charles III have continued the royal involvement with Freemasonry.
