  1. Fascinating to hear Poe's mental state discussed from a modern point of view! Dr. Grande, if you haven't looked into it already I would like to recommend Hervey Allens' biography "Israfel--The Life and Times of Edgar Allan Poe" from 1934, an excellent book with lots of information and many illustrations including a photo of the house that inspired the House of Usher. There's not much information about Poe's biological family but from what little is said of Poe's sister it appears she was developmentally disabled. Some other authors I would like to suggest for upcoming videos are Virginia Woolf, Sylvia Plath and Anne Sexton.
