  1. Thank you for this video! I've been intrigued with the Hopkins mansion for years. Something that may now be lost in history is what the colors were for the outside of the house. I wonder if there are any written descriptions or if there might be painting of the house somewhere. I've read that Shirley Jackson who wrote "The Haunting of Hill House" was originally from California and that her great-grandfather (?) was an architect. I wonder if Shirley Jackson's relative had any connection with the design and building of the Hopkins mansion and if the mansion may have provided some of the inspiration for the Crain mansion in the novel.

  3. You may already know about this but just in case: Glensheen was used in the movie "You'll Like My Mother" starring Patty Duke. The house could be said to be one of the characters in the movie. I became an admirer of Glensheen watching the movie.
