For my job I had to go through a LOT of training from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences and one of the things I was taught is that masks don't protect us from Covid, that the minimum of real protection is from an N-95 respirator. Still I respect the right of a store or office to require the wearing of masks and I do wear one. The people who work in a business have enough to do without having to get after people not wearing masks and I'm not going to add to their burden. For those who truly can't wear a mask there are alternate arrangements that can be made for doing business somewhere or maybe the could call ahead and explain the situation and work something out with the management. The New England Journal of Medicine has even said that the wearing of masks is just symbolic and is good for reminding people not to touch their face though when I have a mask on I'm touching my face frequently because of the mask.

@Nobody11052 Actually I'm the antithesis of a karen. I'm one of the least troublesome people that others will encounter.

@ghostscript2044 I hear what you're saying and I respectfully disagree. Masks are just cloth, how can they have only one-way protection? Too the virus can pass through cloth.

@Nobody11052 If you'll re-read my original comment you'll see that I simply disagree with masks based on the training I have from a reputable organization. I expressed my views here in a public forum and did so without being disrespectful. I wear masks in places of business, etc. and I do so without complaning to editorializing to the people who work there, out of respect for and courtesy to those people. Simply disagreeing on the efficacy of masks while I still wear them doesn't make me a karen. If anyone is being unpleasant it's you.

@ghostscript2044 Yes. Just go to the website for the National Institue of Environmental Health Sciences and go through the training modules/classes that I did for certification. Too one can do a Google search or look around on You Tube for information that goes along with the training I've had. At the same time I suppose that whatever you believe, you can find someone to confirm it. I will continue to belive that masks are of limited or no value, that a handkerchief can do as well without being over one's face and mouth for hours at a time. I've said what I have to say, I don't expect to change the views of anyone in these threads as you will not change mine but we can disagree agreeably, with mutual courtesy and respect. I've expressed my views in what I hope is a mature, reasonable way and now I'm done.
