  2. Question for Cash and other New Yorkers: I was noticing that many of the buildings in the neighborhood are cleary from the 1800's and the earlier part of the 1900's. Were those structures built to be residential only and the businesses added later on or were they always a combination? I love those built-in bookshelves/shrine area but not up in the windowless loft. If the shelve were downstairs there could have been a great home library area but I guess not that many people anymore have or read many physical books. That IS a lot of shelf space and I suspect more than many people would want. I don't own enough to use all that upstairs storage space. The apartment isn't quite for me but someone is going to love living there.
