Cash, this may be a little off-topic but you and your viewers may be interested in a book I'm reading: "Alone Together--A History of New York's Early Apartments" by Elizabeth Collins Cromley; Cornell University Press, 1990. The book is about how the concept of multi-resident, multi-family buildings was introduced to New York in the mid-19th century from Europe and had to be adapted to American lifestyles and values and especially in Manhattan. In the mid-1800's in Manhattan there was a shortage of stand-alone, single family houses along with a greatly expanding population. Some people believed that living in an apartment house would destroy morals and families, and the public had to get accustomed to the concept of apartment living.
