B A Poland's geographical position was notoriously difficult. However, the Polish government-in- exile didn't declare war on Finland. Mannerheim had spent many years in Poland, at one point leading a regiment stationed in the Royal Łazienki.

Divide et impera is the oldest trick in the book. The British had troops everywhere (see random colony), so they couldn’t really focus on anything.

Call me old fashioned, but Mikhail Gorbachev pretty much acknowledged that the Soviet Union was an aggressor. It's enough for me.

@kingorange7739 Interestingly, the Finnish government was ready to declare war on Germany as early as September 1943, but the Western Allies were unable to support Finland. "in the present situation in which the Finnish Government finds itself, it may feel that the best solution for its present political difficulties would be a landing by American or even British troops in Finland. @davidtuttle7556 The same could be said about the Red Army. Azeri, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Uzbek and Turkmen are not Slavic languages. They are Turkic languages, and Tajik has been considered to be a variety of Persian.

B A Ivan was a common name in the Finnish army. It was finnicized to Johannes/Jussi after WW2. https://www.sotapolku.fi/henkilot/?etunimet=Ivan Not to mention, the Field Army Bernolák was named after the first codifier of the literary Slovak language, which is a West Slavic language.

B A Azerbaijan alone was slightly larger than the Austrian and Finnish armies combined in the North. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hazi_Aslanov

@devnull436 Toivo Vaaramo (orig. Warzabu), a Polish Jew, served in the Finnish SS Battalion and was promoted to lieutenant. He was wounded many times, died in hospital and was buried in western Finland. I am not claiming anything about popular sentiment, but this kind of thing happened too. https://www.sotapolku.fi/henkilot/vaaramo_toivo-perttuli_1920-09-30_seinajoki/

@Normalguy1690 Their appreciation was slightly lower. Perhaps over time, some foreigners would have been promoted, after all, Hitler was a foreigner. There were no Austrian Marshals though.

@nottoday3817 Actually, if Poland were located between France and Germany, it would have been a safe place for Poles, bad for Germany.

I feel like smart people always yearn for a republican system, even though it doesn’t seem to be a perfect system. A little effort is surprisingly enough. Such a beautiful language: https://youtu.be/eC27f2094qU

This video shows well why Gebirgsjäger battalion carry less equipment than a motorized unit: https://youtu.be/OQEVbhcrNWk

To my understanding, Polish government-in-exile didn't declare war on Finland, which was pretty crazy considering they were staying in London. They remained in the United Kingdom until 1990.
