@Mocsk Churchill declared war because the Finnish army was going too far. Or do you claim he made a mistake? http://heninen.net/sopimus/kirjecm_e.htm

@Mocsk As you said, they went way beyond the 1920-1939 border. Ryti and Mannerheim decided to stop the attack for political reasons. In an interview in 1978, General A.F Airo stated that the attack should have been continued. Karelian is the closest relative of the Finnish language and should not be confused with the so-called Karelian dialects of Finnish. For example, Dutch is the closest language to English. This does not mean that these nations are automatically allies. And like America's indigenous languages, smaller languages have blended into the mainstream. http://www.elupuu.org/index.php?id=52

@adaw2d3222 If it walks like NATO, etc? Well, legal status is a bit more complicated, but I understand what you mean.

@lteagle101 Key differences between Finland and Germany: 1. The United States only severed diplomatic relations with Finland in 1944. They can never be counted as Allies. 2. Finland didn't ratify the Geneva Convention relative to the treatment of POWs. 3. Although decentralized organizational structure had a great deal of flexibility, only Mannerheim would possess the authority to lead the country from war to peace.

@ПалПалыч-щ1о "omg what does the 'Continuation war' means?" Such a definition means that South Karelia was important to the 410,000 people who were evicted from their homes by the Soviets. Today Vyborg District is no longer a prosperous region.

Legend has it that Finnish snipers climbed trees. More likely, the Soviets had never seen an electrician. https://youtu.be/omLOH1NLss8

@TheWersum Slavs etc born in the Soviet Union were paid lower wages, so not quite a final solution. The final solution was for the Red Army POWs, but it was not completed.

@slovene ball *1944...In practice, the Continuation War ended on September 5, 1944, even though it had not yet been officially signed. Operation Tanne Ost led to Finnish forces opening fire at 00:55 on 15 September 1944.

The Unknown Soldier (1955) is still a masterpiece. A fast-paced theater-style play featuring actual footage of the war, brutal humor and soundtrack by Sibelius. Admittedly, it only tells the story of a single machine gun company (IR 8 / 1st Battalion). https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0048752/

Chileans also meet the above criteria: https://youtu.be/wJAL_OR8-MY These are obviously allied: https://youtu.be/w0xTat4PqSM

@slovene ball Peace with Germany was officially proclaimed on March 12th, 1954. One could well argue that the war between Finland and Austria is still ongoing due to the dissolution of the Greater German Reich, but in reality Austrian and Finnish soldiers shook hands on April 26th, 1945.

Actually, I have always used similar figures to prove that the millions of soldiers is no extremist group, but rather an inevitable consequence of industrialization and population growth. They really needed more forest plots.

I noticed that the Serbian SS was equipped in "Soviet style", their helmets were either Italian or Czechoslovak. And there were more of them than the Finns and the Danes combined (but less than a division). In addition, they are a South Slavic ethnicity, which weakens the argument about "racial socialism". Practically very similar empires, like the Western Roman Empire and The Byzantine Empire. East Germany was perhaps even more German than the Greater Germanic Reich.
