But quoting Hitler is not a bad taste?

Decolonization was a rather complex and slow process. As I recall, the UK didn't take part in the Vietnam War, but Australia did. Not to mention the 1975 Australian constitutional crisis. However, they are culturally closer than some other countries.

I’m not sure if they were so far-sighted that they would have hoped for the US occupation. Interestingly, Brezhnev canceled the German "Volksarmee" invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968.

@dragosstanciu9866 Both are banned from Twitter?

We have a draft twice a year. Mobilization is a different matter. The Finnish army was called for additional training, when the USSR made territorial claims in early October 1939.

@wakenbaker-uk According to Wikipedia: United Nations, Allied, Royal Italian and Italian Resistance victory.

@dragosstanciu9866 If you look at the map of continental Europe, it pretty much covers Hitler’s provinces. They simply didn’t even have a plan or resources to go all the way to Alaska. That's why most French Canadians opposed conscription. To be fair Quebec is large enough to be an independent country.

@dragosstanciu9866 Exactly

That is a good question. I would say the real reason is industrialization when you look at the number of participants, which is much higher than these videos show. Quite a few had already fought in WW1, including Harry S Truman and Hitler. On the other hand, perhaps Patton didn't want to repeat mistakes, thus being more sympathetic to the Germans.

@millennialwatchman6703 In the middle of nowhere, Medvezhyegorsk was occupied by the Finnish Army until 23 June 1944. The Nazies still had troops in Finland, Italy and Norway in April, 1945. I can understand why Göring would consider the Bulge as a turning point. Definitely not a cake walk for the Allies.

Oddly, my comments disappeared, though not even controversial....Well, let's try another way. 99% were Germans, which may explain the policy. However, immigration was restricted even before WW2.

Basically, everything was due to industrialization. Americans did not have the ability to influence Europe before WW1. Eventually, the arms trade escalated into a naval war followed by a landing in Normandy

@Norvik_-ug3ge Adolf Hitler's rise to power began in Germany in September 1919. Still, there was only evacuations in 1940. They didn't use nuclear weapons during The Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia, because Mutually assured destruction.
1
@Norvik_-ug3ge By evacuation, I meant that the United States was unable to help during the Battle of Dunkirk. Breznev canceled the invasion of Czechoslovakia by the East German National Army, and bribed Urho Kekkonen by transferring oil from Poland to Finland. It was like the Cuban missile crisis which could have led to WW3 without a declaration of war.

@Norubaki66 Decolonization is too complex subject, but I would say the puppet states were colonized (losers). The Italian Social Republic was a puppet state created by Germany, so Northern Italy was actually an increase in land area, not a loss.
