  2.  @Battyj  Very similar than relations between the Tories and Republicans at the time. Great-great-granddaughter of Emperor Alexander II of Russia married Prince Franz Wilhelm of Prussia. His father Karl Franz served as a lieutenant and was awarded the Iron Cross. Karl died in Chile. Would be interesting to see his documents from Bundesarchiv.
