In my opinion, there is no single point but a constant struggle with varying intensity. Lots of defensive victories still in 1943-44 at Kasserine, Tienhaara, Ilomantsi etc.
On 30 January 1943, following Hitler's outrage over the Battle of the Barents Sea, Erich Raeder was forced to retire as Admiral Inspector, a ceremonial office. Karl Dönitz called off operations in the North Atlantic in the spring of 1943, saying, "We had lost the Battle of the Atlantic". Dönitz joined the Nazi party only in 1944.
In 1946, the U.S. had some 14,000 soldiers in Austria. For comparison, the number of Finnish ground troops was limited to 34,400 men.
Low intensity cultural wars:
Patriotic and social riots of the Polish people in the years 1956, 1968, 1970, 1976, 1980 and 1981.
