@aleksazunjic9672 Technically, Russia was one of their enemies. Stepan Petrichenko was arrested by the Finnish authorities in 1941. On the basis of an armistice agreement between the USSR, Great Britain and Finland, Petrichenko was sent to the USSR. He died on June 2, 1947, while being transported.

@aleksazunjic9672 Although Aleksei Brusilov was given an honourable state funeral in 1926, Russian officers were definitely persecuted in the 1930s and 1940s.

I would have phrased that differently because we are talking about 1946. Certainly better to be in Hesse than in Moldova

@aleksazunjic9672 That was 1918. Mensheviks were inside the Finnish goverment during WW2. Bolsheviks, such as Yrjö Leino and Vladimir Kirpichnikov would not have survived, if they had been shot immediately.

Russia was a dictatorship as it is today, but I don’t think they are starving.

Do you want him deleted from history?

I'm pretty sure this happened in every country neighboring the USSR. In Finland, conditions were similar for the so-called tribal battalions, which were assembled from various Soviet nationalities. Battalion No. 3 Included even one platoon of ethnic Finns who had served in the Red Army. At least 172 soldiers fled to Sweden. They were hunted until the 1950s.

I would like to suggest a profile episode about anyone mentioned by Hitler’s will, unless they are presented in reverse order. Then lesser-known Brigadier general of Gestapo Franz Josef Huber, protected by the US.

@aleksazunjic9672 Unacceptable, if you have a slavic surname. No one has been executed on Finnish soil since September 1944.

I watched again Mad Max: Fury road. Georg Miller describes quite well a fascist model of society. At the end, Max helps rebels to seize power, but leaves the fortress. Obese women are shown opening up water tanks and pouring water directly on dry ground. They probably died of thirst anyway.

Perhaps military service is not so enforced in the UK that whole battalions would have switched sides, but I think they have more than just one traitor. 'Famous Last Words' Louis Mountbatten: Nice weather Mr. Murphy. Let's have some fun at the lake.

I thought Rudolf Hess was a traitor, because he was born in a British client state.

From what I have read, Britain was a liberal society, not a laissez faire economy. Take a look at wikipedia: "List of Allied traitors during World War II". However, he is right that no one wanted to join the Red Army as a infantry soldier. The USSR was pretty backward country. Here in Finland, Ahti Myrsky was a socialist member of the City Council of Helsinki. He was placed in a penal battalion from which he escaped. Ahti Myrsky was taken prisoner by the reds and was used as slave labor to which he perished in 1942.

@janjordy This operation took place in 1946. Clearly most of Europe was communist. The Labour Party, led by Attlee won a landslide victory.

In my opinion, all European cities can be included in this list, including Berlin.

@verbalwhale The Red Army entered Pyongyang in 1945. Kim Il-sung was a rising star inside the Communist bloc. Maybe quote him instead of Leon Trotsky?

I'm not sure if the eracdication of native americans is an exact expression. You know, George Armstrong Custer did not survive. Montana and Wyoming are still largely uninhabited. To my understanding Wooden Leg died of natural caused during the WW2 in 1940. I recommend Jocko podcast 45 - about Wooden Leg.

Basically, you say if a Hungarian turns the lever, it's not technically German crime, even if the train had been packed by a German crew.

@crimony3054 Interestingly, my comment was removed even though it did not contain any swear words or historical inaccuracies
